What research did you do before entering your current institution?

When I was in Form 3, the time had come for me to think about college education. My search started by going to education fairs whenever an opportunity came knocking. It was in secondary school Form 4 when I first learned about DASEIN during a Study Fair in my school. DASEIN left a strong impression on me that day.  Hence, I did some research on them by visiting their website and going for a campus tour.

What attracted you to pick this institution?

Being keen on Mass Communication, I first looked through the subjects the course offered. I was immediately attracted to the creative writing subject. This subject is not commonly found in mass communications programs in local education institutions. Upon going for the campus tour, I was attracted to the art displayed as well as the range of books they provided in the library. This experience influenced my choice of college, DASEIN.

How convenient is your campus?

Very convenient, indeed. I use the LRT Kelana Jaya Line and I find this is the most common mode of transport used by students. It’s only a 10-minute walk from the Sri Rampai LRT Station to the college. Rain or shine, many taxis are available all day at this station. With many restaurants to eat in this area, there is a wide variety of food to choose from. These eateries are very clean, too!

How would you describe your course to a 17-year-old?

Whether you want to be in the spotlight or work on the sidelines, a career in mass communication gives you that choice. You will learn about the communications industry on a small and large scale. Besides this, you also learn about the fundamentals of managing and planning events or projects including TV and Radio broadcasting. You will also learn more about business and advertising subjects. Also, you will be trained to improve your communication skills, teamwork as well as how to discover your inner creativity.

What words of advice would you give to those who are intending to pursue the same course as you?

I believe this course is best suited for those who desire to have an active college life and are willing to learn through thick and thin. You need to be accepting towards personal change and be able to adapt to any type of study or work environment. Whether it is behind the scenes on a production set, being part of an event crew, in the limelight as a Public Relations manager or as a TV host, these are eye openers to a career in mass communications.

In your group of friends, what role do you play?

I’m definitely the weird joker. I try my best to make everyone around me smile or laugh and, I’m very spontaneous, too. No one would guess or expect what I’d do next.

Which movie or song title best describes your life?

A song title that would best describe my life is Up and Away by Jakob Ogawa. The title itself implies that my life is only going up and getting better from where I am now.
