Course Overview

Teaching English as a Second Language
Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) is a specialised field where students are trained to be expert teachers teaching English to those whose first language is not English.

Why study Teaching English as a Second Language?
In this growing global community, English is notably the most predominant language used for communication and business transaction. The disappearing international boundaries through the ease of technology and developing global market have contributed to the higher than ever increased demand for quality English language programmes and qualified teachers locally and internationally.

Thus, the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Teaching English as a Second Language is aimed at preparing students to meet the demands and challenges in the teaching profession in all education institutions. It is designed for non-graduate teachers, school-leavers, and those interested in joining the teaching profession to be better equipped with a solid command of the knowledge and skills required for an educator. Graduates will not only be equipped with practical knowledge and hands-on experience needed for language teaching but also professional attitudes, good ethics and learning qualities.
