Jasmine P’ng Mei Yi

Diploma in Logistics Management
Jasmine studied Diploma in Logistics Management at Peninsula College.

What research did you do before entering your current institution?

I first heard about the college through my school counsellor as I was part of the School Counselling Unit. My counsellor told me all about Peninsula College, Straits Quay and advised me to look into it more myself. My mom also worked alongside with the company (PKT Logistics) who owns the college and told me more about them too.

What attracted you to pick this institution?

Mainly because of the scholarship provided and the size of the college. I prefer smaller size colleges because I like the environment of smaller sized schools as the lecturers would focus on each of us and ensure that we understand the lectures well.

How convenient is your campus?

My campus is extremely convenient. Food is easily accessible as it is everywhere There are road side stalls to high-end restaurants with different range of food. Public transportation around the campus is also very efficient as our campus is close to a tourist spot. There is free parking nearby which is a 2-minute walk away from the campus or you can park inside the mall which is closer but a parking fee is required.

How would you describe your course to a 17-year-old?

Logistics is the movement of goods from one place to another. It’s part of the supply chain management. Though it’s not a popular subject but it’s very much needed in the future of industries.

What words of advice would you give to those who are intending to pursue the same course as you?

Make sure you’ve done your research well enough and have a proper plan or a clear idea of what you would want to do in the future. Have a chat with your parents and get to know their financial position as well as to get their point of view on this course. The most important thing is to make sure to follow your passion and know what you want to do in the future, not just what you want to study. Studying only takes a few years, but what you do after that is going to be your whole life.
