Faculty of Arts

The Faculty of Arts enjoys a unique reputation for bringing together eastern and western cultures and learning. It affects dialogue within the humanities and pioneers research approaches across disciplines. Its 11 departments offer major and minor programmes leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree and all aiming to foster understanding of the humanities and nurture future leaders for Hong Kong. The Faculty is staffed by world-renowned scholars and literati, including Prof. Leung Yuen-sang, Prof. David Faure, Prof. Simon Haines, Prof. Leo O. F. Faculty of Education

The education degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Education are celebrated for their breadth and depth, as well as the use of innovative teaching methods. Through four departments and one unit, it trains graduate teachers, scholars who conduct research on high-impact topics, and consultants to government and schools on vital policy issues, in and beyond Hong Kong. Other entry criteria:

Doctor of Philosophy Programme

  1. Master's degree from a recognized university; or
  2. Bachelor's degree, normally with Second Class Honours* in the upper division or above (Applicable to “MPhil-PhD Programmes” only)

Master's Programme

  1. Graduated from a recognized university and obtained a Bachelor's degree, normally with honours not lower than Second Class*;

*For Bachelor's degree without honour classification, student should achieve an average grade of not lower than "B"

Students should also fulfill the English Language Proficiency Requirement prescribed before they are admitted
