Lim Jing Hie

Bachelor of Commerce (Hons)
Lim studied Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) at Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC).

About Me

What is the first thing you do after a big exam?
I usually feel exhausted after the exam and definitely need to get a quality nap.

What was your most memorable moment at college?
It had to be Mass Call 2017. As the President of TAR UC Student Representative Council, I led the freshmen in reciting the TAR UC oath in the midst of the senior management of TAR UC.

Name three things someone can always find in your bag/backpack?

  • Stationeries (two highlighters and one pen)
  • A5-sized note book
  • Keys (home and SRC office)

About My University / College

Why did you choose this university/college?
I was impressed by the greenery and facilities within the campus when I first stepped into TAR UC. After speaking to some of the staff to learn more about the courses offered in TAR UC, it was the best choice for me as I felt great being on campus and there was no doubt that TAR UC’s education is excellent.

Where is your favourite hangout on campus?
The canteen. I frequent the canteen almost every day. After finishing my lunch, I would usually walk along the foyer and visit the various booths managed by the students as part of their society project. The students always organise fund raisings as well as various other fun activities to publicise their societies to other students. I enjoy just visiting the booths as I make new friends and also support the students’ activities.

If you could change one thing about your university/college, what would it be, and why?
I used to stay overnight in McDonald’s just to prepare for my mid-term test. Therefore, in my opinion, having a 24-hour study area would be appreciated by students such as myself. Such an area within the campus would be much safer than studying in a public place. Besides studying, students can also have group discussions in preparation for the examinations.

About My Course

Who influenced you to choose this course?
My parents, especially my mother. She graduated from the then TAR College. She frequently shared with me her exciting stories when she was a student and she often concluded that her qualification from the institution led to her having a fulfilling working experience as a finance manager.

What is the hardest subject/module in your course, and why?
It is advanced performance management, one of our elective professional papers in our final semester. The ACCA world passing rate of this paper is approximately 33%.

Would you do it again?
Yes, I will choose to be an accounting student, to be exact, an ACCA student. ACCA is well-known and it is the largest professional accounting body in the world.
